Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has insisted that he is happy to play with U-23s as the young center back is building his fitness in an attempt to bid for a place in the first team in the coming days.
The 23-year old has been sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury that he suffered against Manchester United this February and the club are doing everything to keep him fit and ease him into first team.
“I am very pleased to play another 90 minutes,” Zouma told ChelseaTV after the Middlesbrough match. “I need to play, to keep going and to work because I was out for a long time.
“I am very happy to play [for the U23s]. I need game time. I am used to being with the first team, but I am so lucky because I can play with the U23s and with a very good team.”
