Chelsea have been linked with a mega money move for Everton’s Ross Barkley in the summer transfer valued at £50 million by Roberto Martinez who is also wanted by Manchester City.

Barkley burst on the scenes last season with lots of attacking performances for Everton which saw him break in to the England’s World Cup team but in a rather surprising claim Barkley admitted his love for playing as a striker.

In an interview with BBC, Barkley expressed his desires to play further up front and how he can impact games playing as a striker.

Barkley said: “I’m a striker. I can have my greatest impact there. I’m free to roam around, take players on, have shots and create chances.”

Barkley’s claims are rather false given his current season stats where he has scored just twice in 28 games and has only made 1 assist which is significantly less than is numbers from last season.

Despite a rather poor season, Jose Mourinho is keen to bring the charismatic £50 million player to Stamford Bridge next season to bolster his already attacking talent. Barkley is tipped to replace Oscar as the player in the role of #10 in behind Diego Costa.

Ross Barkley was a crucial figure in Roberto Martinez’s Everton side which qualified for Europa League this season but the player has been in an indifferent form partly down to the change in style by Martinez this season. Barkley’s potential is too much to handle for the toffees and it is widely believed that he will be sold in next 12-18 months.

Chelsea can move in and seal the deal worth 50 million for Barkley, who has recently expressed his desires to play as the striker in his club and International side.
