Chelsea manage Jose Mourinho has been keen on bringing a world class box-to-box midfield player at Stamford Bridge. In his quest, Mourinho has gone back to his previous key target in Atletico Madrid’s Koke.
The Spanish midfielder is valued at £45 million by his current club Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have been given the green light to sign Koke after Barcelona have pulled out of the race to sign the talented Spanish player.
Koke, who has been instrumental in Atletico’s amazing run for last 18 months which saw the lesser fancied Madrid side win the La Liga title and reach the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League finals.
Mourinho rates the Spaniard very highly as Koke has not suffered the second-season syndrome and has continued to excel under the able guidance of Diego Simeone. Atletico will play against Real Madrid in the Quarter Finals of this season’s Champions League and Koke would again be crucial for Atletico’s chances.
Koke had previously come out and expressed his desires to play in different leagues and ever since Premier League leaders Chelsea have been courting the talented player. Koke, who can play in the creative midfield or out wide on wings would add further depth and creativity to Mourinho’s side next season.
Chelsea are ready to break the bank and spend £45 million to bring Koke to Stamford Bridge next season. With Barcelona now dropping their interest in signing the Spanish star, route is clear for Chelsea to sign the talented Spanish midfield player from Atletico Madrid.
