Jose Mourinho confirms signing a contract with goalkeeper ahead of Southampton match
Chelsea takes on Southampton in a vital game week 8 encounter on Saturday night, 3rd October.
Chelsea is currently placed in the 15th position in the league table and yet another falter might see them reach the relegation zone.
Ahead of the crucial match against Southampton, Jose Mourinho said: “Porto was a difficult game. We defended well generally but made two big mistakes.
“every player wants to play but they are all respectful to him and the other players when they are not playing.”
Mourinho clearly hinted that all the speculations regarding Chelsea’s dressing room unrest were not true.
Mourinho further stated: “I will not give any team selection news ahead of tomorrow’s game.
“Courtois is unavailable due to injury, but the recovery is going well. He should be back in December.”
Regarding a backup goalkeeper, the Portuguese manager said they are planning to sign an out of contract goalkeeper.
” We are looking to sign an out-of-contract goalkeeper for cover and Marco Amelia has been training here for a couple of days,” he said
Jose Mourinho stressed on the fact that he believes in his players and trusts them completely.
He stated: “The team can win every game.
“Southampton is a good team that we couldn’t beat last season, and they will give us a difficult match.
“It is nothing new and totally natural that everyone wants to beat the champions.”
On the current condition of the squad the manager opined: “My assistant reported that Remy, Oscar and Falcao trained fantastically well in training when the squad was in Porto.
“I always cope well with pressure and always wants the next match to come.
“There is open communication between everyone here, with no crying and no prima donnas.”
Branislav Ivanovic has been criticised vehemently in the recent times for his poor run of form, but irrespective of that Jose Mourinho has constantly kept faith on the Serbian.
On the defender, Mourinho said: “Branislav Ivanovic likes to speak with me about mistakes.
“Jose says he has no doubt Ivanovic is his best right-back and no doubt he needs to improve his form.”
