Chelsea are reportedly interested in a move for Colombia striker Carlos Bacca from Serie A club AC MILAN. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, interim manager Guus Hiddink has identified the former Sevilla talisman as the right man to provide competition for the misfiring Diego Costa. Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Chelsea are planning to offer AC Milan £30m for his services which is more than the £21m the Rossoneri paid to Sevilla.

Bacca has netted 9 goals in 21 appearances for Milan this season and it would be tough for Chelsea to take him away from Milan as they are challenging for the European spots this season. Chelsea who are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table look toothless going forward and Carlos Bacca will provide the much needed bite to the Blues’ attack.

Diego Costa, Pedro, Eden Hazard and Radamel Falcao have been in miserable form this season and Hiddink looks to address that problem with the signing of Bacca. Chelsea are importantly still in the Champions League and play French Champions PSG in their last 16 clash next month. According to Gazzetta Delloo Sport, Chelsea are ready to bid for the Colombian after having identified him as the right man to lead their Champions League campaign. Bacca ,crucially, wouldn’t be cup-tied as Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.

Bacca to Chelsea is very unlikely as Milan are still in the hunt for the European spots and I can’t see them sell one of their key players halfway into the season. Milan also look a more attractive option for Bacca as it is almost impossible for Chelsea to finish in any of the European spots.

However, stranger things have happened in the past and with Chelsea’s unmatched financial power you never know. The Premier League Champions have struggled for goals this season and it is quite certain that the Blues will be looking to bring in a striker. Whether that striker is Alex Teixeira or not, only time will tell.
