Chelsea transfer round up of the day: Abramovich make shock managerial target, set to raid PSG
Chelsea are definitely the team most in need of a transfer market dig in this January, and there are reports of some major moves in today’s transfer roundup.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has now made Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri his top managerial target to take the charge this summer replacing interim boss Guus Hiddink’s. Looks like Abramovich’s dream to lure Pep Guardiola with a huge contract has ended.
Metro reports, Chelsea confident enough to beat Liverpool for the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian star Alex Teixeira. The struggling Blues have long been linked with the prolific attacker, and everybody knows made a late move to land Willian beating Tottenham in 2013. These circumstances seem quite similar this time also, and Chelsea believes they could be successful to upset their rivals here.
Chelsea are set to make a double raid on Paris Saint-Germain for both their star players Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi, as per the reports from Metro. The defending League champions currently sitting 14th in the table need some serious changes up front, with both Costa and Hazard both recently linked with potential exits. Cavani and Lavezzi also are both seem to be looking for a move away from PSG, with the latter will be a free agent at the end of this season.
The Blues might be dealt a huge blow of losing a star like Eden Hazard in a £61.5million bid to rivals Manchester City, according to a report from Manchester Evening News. The Belgian playmaker is struggling for form this season, with several reports claim that Chelsea could now look to cash in on Hazard when the season ends. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested to sign the Chelsea star, but Manchester City may line up an unexpected move to keep Hazard in the Premier League. Real Madrid were also interested to sign him.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail reports Chelsea are ready to sell their Brazilian midfielder Ramires in this transfer window. The midfielder has also attracted interest from top European clubs including Bayern Munich and PSG. Ramires penned a new four-year contract last October, but that has not stopped other clubs from showing interest on him and Chelsea now reportedly decided to raise funds selling the Brazilian. It is believed any transfer business would actually free up more transfer funds for the struggling Blues as they are looking to start a rebuilding programme.
Italian media claim former Brazil captain Thiago Silva is a top priority transfer target for Chelsea as they are looking for reinforcements. Hiddink already has Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma in his disposal, along with captain John Terry. The veteran defender’s contract will expire at the end of this season, but the 35-year-old Englishman is expected to be offered a new contract. But it is unlikely that the former England skipper will play every match, freeing up space for Thiago Silva in the team. According to a report from Evening Standard, Chelsea have already opened talks with PSG over a possible deal.
