Antonio Conte’s Chelsea will be disappointed with their loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the previous round of the Premier League but they will hope to get back to winning ways more than 10 days later, when they travel to the King Power Stadium, for their second match of the New Year.
The Blues have a decent squad that can get them through crunch games but the manager has been looking to add a few players to the squad recently to keep it fresh.
This has seen the club linked with some big names recently and here are all such transfer rumors and other interesting stories coming out of the Stamford Bridge today:
Chelsea want Payet:
The French midfielder at the Olympic Stadium is now frozen out of the first team after he denied to show up for the Hammers.
Slaven Bilic, the manager of the side, revealed that £40m might land him in the transfer window this month and a number of Premier League clubs are already plotting a move for him. Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are already thinking about a bid for the 29-year old. (Sun)
Skipper to stay:
English defender and club skipper John Terry has not been able to get into the first team at the club this season under Conte and has been linked with an exit.
He is out of a contract at the end of the season and Chelsea are yet to offer him a new one and Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side wanted to snap him up on loan till the end of the season. However, Conte today revealed that John Terry is not going anywhere this January. (Express)
PSG want Batshuayi:
The young Belgian striker has not been able to impress the manager at the club this season and is available for a loan move this January.
West Ham United have already expressed their interest in the striker but French giants PSG are now desperate for his signature this month. PSG want Batshuayi to release the pressure on first choice Edinson Cavani while Chelsea are willing to let him leave if they are able to land Fernando Llorente from Swansea. (L’Equipe)

Chelsea have been on the hunt of attacking talent who can make their side unbeatable and they are now eyeing a move for Argentine star Lionel Messi.
Chelsea, along with Manchester United and Manchester City have made a contact with the Barcelona star over a move to the Premier League. Messi is yet to offered a new contract because of the ban by FIFA and the PL clubs want to take advantage of this situation and want to lure him out of Spain. (Sky Sports)

In what will come as a huge blow to Chelsea, star striker Diego Costa, who has recently had a bust up with Antonio Conte, the manager at the club, may be on his way out of the club.
The striker had a blazing argument with the manager over his fitness levels and Conte replied by dropping him out of the squad against Leicester City. Costa is now frustrated and unsettled and his agent is now offering him to clubs in China, who are ready to pounce on him. (Metro)
