Chelsea’s player ratings: Cahill and Ivanovic disappoints as Blues suffer a humiliating loss!
Chelsea went into the London derby on a relatively low confidence as they have not looked great over the last two weeks. The loss of John Terry meant their defense did not have a proper leader while going into such a high profile match.
Antonio Conte who took part in his first London derby chose to go with experience in the defense and fielded the best possible experienced side in the match.
However, an initially misplaced pass by Cahill has opened the doors for Arsenal as they went on a rampage in the first half as Blues were 3-0 down by half-time.
The Blues’ attackers also have not looked impressive.
Here we look at the player ratings of Chelsea team for the London derby:
The Belgian was heavily exposed by his defenders but looked ordinary between the posts.
The Serbian is in his last part of his career and was exposed by Iwobi and Sanchez on the left as he looked completely out of sorts.
Was very bad in the beginning as he misplaced the pass that led to Sanchez’s opener. Was not up to the standard as the manager expected him to be.
The Brazilian still has not caught up with the pace of the league since his return to Stamford Bridge. However, he made some good runs high up the pitch and made a sensational pass to Batshuayi as it was the only clear chance Chelsea managed to carve out throughout the whole game.
Tried to enforce himself on the attack but failed to penetrate Arsenal’s defense. Looked quite effective when Conte changed the formation to 3-5-2.
Starting his first Premier League of the season, the Spaniard failed to make any impact as his side failed miserably. He was subbed off on 54 minutes as manager tried to switch the formation.
The Serbian tried to bring in the physical play in an attempt to cover his defense but looked helpless as Arsenal passing was spot on.
Was the only midfielder who tried hard to make the things work for Chelsea but with little support from others, he could not change the result.
He was largely ineffective in the first half. Tried to be more aggressive in the second half as he made runs by moving into promising positions in the attack.
The Belgian has little to do as his side was mostly chasing down the ball. He tried to make a couple of runs into the defense but Bellerin was spot on as the wing play remained ineffective for the Blues.
Was kept calm throughout the game as he failed to manage a single shot on the goal. His physical play did not prove to be effective as Mustafi and Koscielny were up to the task. Also got a yellow card which ruined his evening.
