One of the worst injury hit sides in the Premier League, AFC Bournemouth have reportedly completed a smart signing early in the January transfer window. The Newly promoted Bournemouth side have impressed at times this season and will be looking to get to safety and play in the top flight next season.
The club have now confirmed the signature of Argentine Under-20 international Juan Iturbe. Iturbe began his career in Paraguay with Cerro Porteño, before making the move to Europe with Porto at the age of 18.
He made his way into the senior level in Paraguay at the age of 16 and is a very talented player. After successful loan spells with River Plate and Verona, the explosive winger made a permanent switch to Roma in summer 2014, where he scored 3 goals in 39 league appearances.
Earlier last month it was reported that Watford were in pole position to sign the Roma attacker but the Cherries have now beaten them to the deal and have acquired the signature of the winger.
The deal is for 6 months initially but Eddie Howe’s side have the option to make it permanent.
“FC Bournemouth can confirm the signing of Juan Iturbe on loan from AS Roma, subject to FA endorsement and European work permit,” read a statement on the Premier League club’s website.
“The Argentina under-20 international, who was capped at senior level for Paraguay at just 16 years of age, will join Eddie Howe’s side for the rest of the 2015/16 season. The Cherries retain the option to make the switch permanent in the summer for an undisclosed fee.”
Iturbe has reportedly already trained with his new team mates at AFC Bournemouth on New Year’s day and is a welcome addition to the side that will try to stay strong in the top flight of English football.
However he will not be a part of the squad that will face Leicester on Sunday as he will not be eligible.
