Christian Benteke won't be playing for the Reds says Sturridge's uncle 1

Daniel Sturridge’s uncle claims that Christian Benteke will not play for Liverpool next season. The Belgian striker has found it very difficult at Liverpool as he could gel with the Reds high pressing and fast attacking style of play.

Since the £32.5million man’s arrival in last summer from Aston Villa, he hasn’t contributed much to the team. The 42-year-old, former Derby striker Dean thinks that his nephew Daniel is one of the reasons behind Benteke being benched.

According to reports, He told NBC: “I can’t see Benteke staying at Liverpool. “He will get his move next season. He doesn’t seem to fit into what the manager wants from his strikers.”

The Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp handed the 25-year-old Belgian his second start in the Premier League last week against West Brom but the striker couldn’t help his side to win the final game of the season. And thus with the likes of Origi, Sturridge, Ings, Ibe up front, it’s highly unlikely for Liverpool to hold on to the Belgian.

Benteke added: “When I signed I didn’t sign for one year — I want to stay here next year.

“I think I have the quality and the manager knows my strengths and weaknesses — I’ve no doubt [Klopp can make me better].

“I know I’ve had a tough season but I’m going to fight until the end.

“Everything can change so I keep focused and keep going for the team and myself.”

In all competitions, Benteke has netted 10 times for Liverpool, despite being called a flop.
