Arsenal have been in the market for an able defensive midfielder after injury blows to Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin. Amid the injuries, Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The highly rated central midfield has been left behin in the pecking order and is itching for a move away from Parc des Princes.
However, PSG club director Leonardo has come out squashing any hopes for Rabiot to join Arsenal in January or in the summer. Speaking with Calcio Mercato, Leonardo said: “He is a young midfielder but he is ready to play”
“PSG trust him a lot and I think he’ll remain at the club. PSG are playing lot of competitions and they will definitely need him.
“The club is forced to win every year but they also need to think about the future.”
Gunners are in a very strong position in the league after being only 2 points shy of the table toppers Leicester. However, there is a general feeling that Leicester will drop points as the season moves along and that is where Arsenal will have their strongest chance of winning the league in recent times.
Wenger will be hopeful to capture one signing during January to further propel their season and push towards the league title.
