Chelsea are set to reject any move made by clubs for their new signing Michy Batshuayi in January, according to the reports.
The 23-year old has joined Chelsea this summer from Marseille in a £33 million deal but has so far failed to break into the first team as he managed a mere 76 minutes in the top flight till last weekend.
The fact that Diego Costa is in prime form and minimal of injuries to the attackers in the squad meant the chances for Batshuayi are severely limited to make an impact. But the young striker is set to make his first start in the Premier League this season on the Boxing day as Diego Costa was suspended for the game against Bournemouth after receiving his fifth yellow card against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Batshuayi has played second fiddle to Diego Costa this season as the Spaniard has so far scored 13 goals for the Blues and was at his imperial best so far. The new element of discipline in Costa meant Batshuayi had waited so long to get a start in the league as Diego went 11 games without an yellow card.
When asked about Batshuayi after their Crystal Palace win, Conte said: “It’s not easy to arrive in this league and understand and adapt. I can see another example in Simone Zaza, a player I know very well who played with me in the Euros. He’s a good player, but now, in England, he’s having a lot of difficulty to understand the game. It’s important to adapt to this football, very tough and physical.
“Michy has brought good quality, is very young and he must work and improve and adapt his football. If he does, this season he can have good satisfaction.”
With Chelsea determined to keep hold of Batshuayi, West Ham who were keen to make a loan move will have to look elsewhere to find solution to their problems.
