Star striker Robin Van Persie has become a subject to transfer rumors in recent weeks at Manchester United. The Dutch striker has been linked with a move away from the club with clubs like AS Roma, Juventus, Besiktas and Lazio being linked with the player.

Recently, Van Persie was in Rome to spend quite time with his family, even that triggered rumors for his move to Serie A next season. Addressing all those rumors, Van Persie has come out and cleared the air about his future.

Speaking in an interview, Van Persie stressed upon the fact that he will not be a part of the transfer puppet show at the club and has plenty of good years ahead of him to offer to the Old Trafford club. Van persie has decided to stay put at Old Tarfford and fight for his place in the team.

Van Persie stressed, how he has a contract with the club till 2016 and he sees no reason which can stop him from doing that.

Speaking in his rather flamboyant style, Van Persie said: “Am I worried?” said van Persie. “No, I’m totally relaxed. I have a contract with this club until 2016.

“Things could change now, but that all depends on Manchester United not me. Believe me, I’m relaxed – I’m not going to be part of a puppet show.

Van Persie acknowledged his growing age and accepted that he does have too many years in him at the highest level, but the Dutch was buoyant to be at his best for next few years.

Van Persie said: “In August I’m 32. But I still have the ambition to play for another eight years.

“In a few years’ time I may have to accept that I will no longer play at the very highest level. I don’t think that moment is coming now. I still feel very, very fit.

“Playing in the first-team is very important for me. This is why I will probably step down one level when I am 36 or 37. But not now”

Van Persie stressed on how he has been the first choice for David Moyes and now Louis Van Gaal when he has been fit. Van persie revealed that, he does not want to retire at a age where he will later on regret of being able to play 2-3 more years.

Van Persie said:  “Whenever I have been fit at United I was playing in the first team all the time. People talk about my injuries, but I’ve only had one this season.

“I’ve seen too many players quit early. Most of them regret this soon after. I’ve seen those players in the national team and at my own clubs. Even big legends have regretted their retirement. Look at Paul Scholes.

“He did quit the game but he kept training and was missing football so much, because he knew he was still capable of playing at that level.”
