London outfit Chelsea had one of the biggest squads in Europe last season with as many as 33 players out on loan.
With Antonio Conte now in charge of the club, there will be a change in the way he approaches things and will only loan out players who he thinks can potentially play for Chelsea in the future.
And one such player who may be out on his way is Matt Miazga. The US international moved to Chelsea from New York Red Bulls for £3.5 million in January and has already made 2 senior appearances for the Blues.
The former Italian boss is currently in the market for a new center back with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly closely linked with a move to the Bridge this summer. However, some suggested that the 21-year old Matt Miazga may be an option for the manager in that position.
But it is now understood that Conte is set to send him out of the club on loan this summer.
The likes of John Terry, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic and Kurt Zouma are already at the club and with Chelsea not in Europe, Miazga would not have found too much of game time next season.
However, the manager revealed in a recent interview that he is pleased with his progress.
“I think at this moment it is good if he plays to improve, to go and get experience to improve,” the Italian said. “You can improve only if you play.
“You play every game or a lot of games during the season. But he is a good guy and I am very happy about him.”
He went on to say that it was better for him to move out on loan for a season and return back to the club.
“Miazga is a young player, he has a good technique and I think that he is working very well under the physical aspect, but the tactical aspect he can improve a lot and I think that he is improving with the work,” he added.
He will mostly be loaned out to an English club which might be the right move for all parties involved as the 21-year old will get enough chances to get used the challenges in the Premier League.
Do you think Conte should keep hold of Miazga this summer for injuries?
