With 5 back to back victories leading into the international break, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are one of the inform teams in the Premier League early this season.
They have also kept clean sheets in all those games, making their victories all the more impressive but the manager is not really happy with the options at his disposal and is looking to add a few players to his squad in the January transfer window.
He is ready to get rid of under-performing players in the window and will spend on players who can help maintain this form in the second half of the season.
They have been linked to some of the best players in Europe and it will be interesting to see who Conte decides to spend on in January.
Recent reports suggest that the Italian manager is set to raid Serie A yet again for some additions.
Italian website Calciomercato now claim that Antonio Conte will revive his interest in AS Roma pair Radja Nianggolan and Kostas Manolas.
The duo were transfer targets for Conte even in the summer but was not able to lure either of them out of Italy at the start of the season. However, it is reported that is he will continue his pursuit and test Roma’s resilience in January.
Greek defender Kostas Manolas, is one of the most wanted defenders in Europe with clubs all across the continent linked with his services. It was recently reported in Italian media that he is not happy with his contract situation and with Roma not making any progress in that issue, Chelsea along with Manchester United are on the look-out in January.
The 28-year old Belgium international Nianggolan has been a standout player for the national side for some time now and is one of the most impressive midfielders in Serie A.
He is also in a similar situation with his contract at the club and though both players are reportedly promised better contracts, clubs around Europe want to take advantage of the situation.
With John Terry playing his last few games for the side, Manolas, could be a good long term replacement and can help Conte build a strong squad that can dominate for years to come.
Nianggolan will add the cutting edge in the all action midfield for Chelsea and his partnership with N Golo Kante can be one of the best in England.
These reports might now make the Italian outfit comfortable, who will now have to act fast to tie their stars to the club for a longer time.
