Footballer Bruno was one of the biggest stars in the football crazy country in 2010 as he was one of the most idolized footballer in the nation.
Those were the days when he was the captain of one of the biggest clubs in Brazil, Flamingo. Then 25-year old was on the verge of earning a call up to national team and was chased by European giants Barcelona and Milan.
But during the summer of 2010, he was sentenced to 22 years in jail for his role in the murder of his former lover, Eliza Samudio. The murder was a sensation during that time, not because of only the footballer who was involved, but also because of the brutality of the crime.
The police has reported the media that parts of Samudio’s body allegedly fed to a rottweiler. However, the footballer is now released from prison and is eligible to play football again.
Being 32 now, he is still able to lure interest from a number of clubs in Brazil already as his agent has revealed over 10 clubs are interested in signing him. He has further confirmed that the player will now make a decision on his future in the coming 10 days.
His agent, speaking last week, said: “Almost 10 clubs have already shown interest. We cannot mention them all now for contractual reasons.
“In no more than 10 days he should reveal his new club.”
Before going into prison, he was on the books of several clubs which include Atletico Mineiro, Flamengo and Corinthians, although he never played for the latter. However, it remains interesting to see if he can get back his original form after spending nearly seven years in jail.
He could also make an appearance for the national team in the future as the Brazilian team do not have an experienced goalkeeper in their ranks and 32 is a relatively young age for a goalkeeper to have ample time to showcase his talent once again in the near future.
