Atletico Madrid have let known their feelings to the club as they are being linked with a move for former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester United forward is looking for a way out of the club since his strong desire of continuing to feature in the Champions League, the competition he is all-time top scorer of.

As a result, the striker is in search of a new ‘Champions League club’, while being linked with over half-a-dozen such sides. Bayern Munich, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, all reportedly held talks with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Atletico also have joined the list now, with the club hierarchy keen to bringing the player against whom they suffered for almost a decade.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘laughs’ off at Atletico fans’ banner

Cristiano Ronaldo has netted a whopping 25 goals against Atletico in 37 appearances, with stints across Real, Juventus and Manchester United. The striker has also often indulged in a ‘banter’ with the Rojiblancos’ fans.

As soon as his name emerged on Atletico’s list of possible transfer targets, the club’s fans came out protesting against it. In one such attempt, a banner which read “CR7 NOT WELCOME” was displayed during Atletico’s friendly against Numancia.

The 37-year-old has now responded to it with posting a series of ‘laughing (?) emojis’ under the Instagram post which reported the banner thing.

Further on, some fans have even started social media campaigns to express their anger and disappointment towards the club trying to sign the Portugal captain.

Jorge Mendes was reportedly spotted in Madrid last week, where he allegedly held meetings with both Real and Atletico for Ronaldo’s transfer.

While Real have rejected the proposal, Atletico seem to be keen on landing the global superstar. However, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has dismissed the rumours of signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cerezo while speaking to COPE said, “I don’t know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid. It’s definitely not true. It’s practically impossible for him to come to Atletico de Madrid.”

But there are still reports coming out of Spain that Atletico are interested in taking the Portuguese forward. The club will surely have to risk the wrath of their fans in landing Ronaldo.
