Just as the Juventus manager predicted, Cristiano Ronaldo finally opened his account in Seria A, not only one but with two goals. Also, he guided his team towards the victory against Sassuolo.
Ronaldo scored a brace against Sassuolo to seal the victory for the home side.
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to find the net in his first three Seria A games for Juventus, and not surprisingly, the criticism began. However, the 33-year old forward has shut the critics and found his form back just before the start of the Champions League.
The Portuguese star scored his first goal after 50 minutes and broke the deadlock. And after 15 minutes later, he found his second and doubled the lead for Juventus. In the 90th minute, Sassuolo pulled one back, but Ronaldo’s brace was enough to seal the victory for the Seria A champions.
However, Ronaldo gave credit to his team-mates for breaking the stubborn defence and also admitted that pressure was building after failing to find the net in the first three games.
Ronaldo told Mediaset,
“I’m very happy; we started well. Sassuolo defend well, but we put in an intense performance and deserved to win. I really wanted to score these first goals, and I’m happy to have found the net. This is football. The important thing is that the team wins. Obviously, I was a little tense with all the talk of Real Madrid and not scoring, but I thank my team-mates for supporting me throughout.”
The former Real Madrid forward also feels he has started to adapt well to the Italian football. And with Champions League right around the corner, Ronaldo is excited to play his favourite tournament.
“I knew that I was working well and it was only a matter of time. I am adapting well to Italian football. The Champions League is my favourite tournament. It’s a very difficult group, we know that we can do well and Juve must focus on being the best.”
