Cristiano Ronaldo sent shockwaves across Manchester United, after lashing out at the club in his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan. The 37-year-old finally opened up on what has been going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford between him and the club, accusing the Red Devils of “betraying” him. Ronaldo has had a rocky six months into the new season, not playing regularly under new manager Erik ten Hag.
However, the whole saga was set on fire even before the new season commenced, with Cristiano Ronaldo asking United to let him leave for a Champions League club. But the club didn’t allow him to seal a transfer elsewhere, and Ten Hag added to his frustration by so far giving him only 4 starts in 10 Premier League games. Moreover, Ronaldo’s tantrums after refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham last month didn’t sit well with Ten Hag, who has reportedly asked the club to let the five-time Ballon d’Or leave in January.

Fans turn hostile after Cristiano Ronaldo heavily criticises United
With just a week remaining for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, it was expected the break would give both Cristiano Ronaldo and Man United a time to reflect on what has happened till now, and how to take the things forward. However, it seems Ronaldo has disrupted the plans and himself put a nail in the coffin of his second spell at the club. The former Real Madrid forward, in an exclusive interview to Morgan, which certainly was an unauthorised one by the club was asked whether he was now being forced out of the club, as he revealed:
“Yes, not only the coach, but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed. I don’t care. People should listen to the truth. Yes, I felt betrayed and I felt like some people don’t want me here, not only this year but last year too. I don’t have respect for him [Ten Hag] because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.
“I don’t know what is going on, but since Sir Alex Ferguson left I saw no evolution in the club, the progress was zero. For example, we have an interesting point that how the club as Manchester United after [they] sack Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], they buy – they bring [in], sports director Ralf Rangnick, which is something that nobody understands. This guy is not even a coach. A bigger club like Manchester United brings [a] sports director – surprised not only me but all the world, you know.
“Nothing changed. Surprisingly. Not only the pool, the jacuzzi, even the gym…Even some points, the technology, the kitchen, the chefs, which is, I appreciate, lovely persons. They stopped in a time, which surprised me a lot. I thought I will see different things…different, as I mentioned before, technology, infrastructure. But unfortunately, we see many things that I used to see when I was 20, 21, 23. So, it surprised me a lot.”
However, Cristiano Ronaldo’s rant against club hasn’t pleased the fans, who have even called for his ousting after the interview. Here are some of the reactions from Man United fans, who clearly haven’t taken the club legend’s comments in good taste:
United need to kick Ronaldo out desperately in the winter window. Do whatever it takes to get him out.
Simply cannot have someone attacking your manager you plan to back long term. Horrible for morale at the club. Just have to let him go anywhere at this point.

The sooner Ronaldo leaves the better. What an absolute circus he creates
Not needed and United are a better TEAM without him.— Shaun(Glazersout) (@SMD34NDetailing) November 13, 2022
Ronaldo has ruined his United legacy for me. It’s sad. One of the United greats but totally washed now. He’s always shown that it’s about him only. 3 motivations for him:
1. Champions League goal record
2. Huge Pay
3. Guaranteed startsHe never cares for anything but himself.

There's no way Ronaldo has been ill this week. He's made sure he didn't get injured ahead of the World Cup.
Truth is we don't need him. We play better football without him.
He's ruined his legacy. He built foundations for that with his slave comments before he first left us.

ETH has respected Ronaldo probably more than he should’ve this season. A comment like this must mean Ronaldos got a move lined up for January https://t.co/SuFSsuQ4df

Ronaldo wanted to leave in the summer before ETH joined. He missed the pre-season tour, disrespectful. He refused to come on as a sub, disrespectful. Walk away from the team before the game had ended, disrespectful. After all that, made captain and started. ETH all the way for me

Ronaldo should be dead to every true #MUFC fan now. Way to ruin your legacy and legend status at a club.
