Manchester United’s new signing Antony has already picked the best between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi back in the day. The Brazilian joined United on a deadline-day deal as the Red Devils splashed a whopping £86 million on his acquisition. Further on, Ronaldo’s failure to quit Old Trafford for Champions League football means Antony will now have the chance to line-up alongside the majestic Portuguese.

Meanwhile, the United forward’s counterpart Lionel Messi is into his second season with Paris Saint-Germain after joining them last summer. While it has taken time for the reigning Ballon d’Or winner to settle in at a complete new atmosphere away from his beloved Camp Nou, he still managed to guide the Parisians to the Ligue 1 title last season with 21 goals contributions [6 goals and 15 assists] in 26 games.

Antony’s pick for the GOAT debate won’t go well with Cristiano Ronaldo

As soon as the former Ajax winger signed for the Red Devils, the curiosity around who his GOAT might be arouse. Since he will now be plying his trade with Cristiano Ronaldo, the excitement to get to know his thoughts became more intense. However, Man United fans should look away after the 22-year-old named the Argentine as the best player to grace the football pitch.

In a video which has resurfaced on social media, Antony can be seen picking Messi as his preference over Cristiano. In a series of questions the interviewer shows the Brazilian photos of both Cristiano and Messi and asks to pick his choice between the two. Tasked with the inevitable question, Antony after a quick thought points towards Messi’s picture as he snaps back with the answer.

It is however still unclear from which year the video is. But Antony should now be careful that his new teammate Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t come across this video. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has had quite an opposite start to his rival this season with Manchester United. He has been handed just one start in five Premier League games by Erik ten Hag and is yet to open his scoring account.

Furthermore, it will be for the first time in almost two decades that Ronaldo won’t be featuring in the Champions League group stage. He tried all summer long with his agent Jorge Mendes to find himself a new suitor, but couldn’t succeed. Despite holding talks with heavyweights such as Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo was welcomed by none. As a result, the 37-year-old will now have to embrace the second-tier Europa League with his fellow United teammates.

On the other hand, Messi has enjoyed a stellar start to his second term with PSG, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists in five Ligue 1 outings. The ‘La Pulga’ looks determined to lead the Parisians to their first ever Champions League triumph and himself lift the coveted trophy since 2015.
