The name of former England midfielder, David Beckham‘s team, has finally been announced. The team will be known as Inter Miami CF, who will start playing from 2020.
David Beckham’s team will start playing from 2020.
In David Beckham’s event on Wednesday, he revealed both the name and the crest of the new club. The club’s badge includes two Cranes, with their legs locked together in front of a pink and black background. Beckham posted the club’s logo on social media and said,
“Four years ago, we dreamt of a soccer club. Today, we’re proud to announce the official name and crest of our new team, Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami. THIS IS US. THIS IS MIAMI.”
He said to SNTV,
“We are a new team but we are a city with a lot of history, and I think that’s what we wanted to create with this crest.”
The former Manchester and Real Madrid midfielder has a deep connection with America. He had spent five years there playing for LA Galaxy and won the MLS twice. However, Beckham moved to PSG later where he retired back in 2013.

Operating from 1997 to 2001, the Miami Fusion were the city’s last MLS team. They won the MLS Supporters’ Shield in their final season. However, after that, there has been no MLS team in the area.
After David Beckham moved to the LA Galaxy in 2007, he received a purchase option from MLS. It allows him to establish a future franchise for $25 million rather than the usual $150M cost.
In 2014, he decided to exercise this option and has been granted permission by Miami-Dade County to build a new stadium in downtown Miami. However, Inter Miami CF’s motto is “Libertas, Unitas, Fortuna”. It pays tribute to the concepts of freedom, unity, solidarity, inclusiveness, opportunity and good fortune for all.
Meanwhile, MLS league have confirmed that Inter Miami CF can play from 2020.
