Manchester United have failed to solidify their right-back position since Gary Neville retired from the game. Since Neville, United have played Rafael, Phil Jones and more recently Antonio Valencia in that position with very limited success.
However, it seems as if United’s right-back troubles are about to end as PSG have offered United the chance to sign the highly talented defender Gregory Van Der Wiel for as little as £7million in the summer.
Manchester United are said to be interested in PSG right-back after Dani Alves penned a 2-year extension with Barcelona leaving United with very little option in that position.
United were very keen on the Brazilian full-back, however Alves’ extension now means that the Old Tarfford club must look to find an able full-back in due course of time.
With PSG’s announcement of Van der Wiel’s availability, Louis Van Gaal will indeed look to bring his former International star at Manchester United.
Van der Wiel has just 1 year left on his contract and is unwilling to extend his stay with the Ligue 1 side, thus PSG are hoping to cash-in on the player with United ready to swoop for the Dutch star.
Van der Wiel’s signing will trigger Man United’s much-talked £200million revamping of the squad with players like Nicolas Otamendi, Nicolas Gaitan, Mario Mendzukic and Morgan Schneiderlin all set to join the Old Trafford revolution.
