Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson were involved in a tunnel bust-up after their sides’ 1-1 draw in the Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg at Anfield, reports Guardian.

The pair had to be separated by a member of the Reds’ backroom staff, after they were inculpated in a scuffle. Although no hands were raised from either of them with a vicious intent, they both had a furious argument, pushing each other.

Henderson, who assisted Sterling’s goal, was seen clashing with Chelsea’s top scorer, which seems to have further aided their off-field squabble.

Diego Costa was caught by Martin Skrtel’s elbow, which also might have infuriated the Spaniard. The duo also were involved throughout the game in Chelsea’s 1-2 win at Anfield in November.

Costa was seen grabbing Skrtel in the face, and had to compensate for the same with a torn jersey after compatriot Alberto Moreno tugged the Chelsea number 19.

Premier League too rough ?

While it may have been Henderson this time, Costa and Skrtel’s feud dates back to October on International scene, when Slovakia beat Spain 2-1 in the Euro 2016 qualification encounter.

National Wars : Costa and Skrtel confronting each other

An Eden Hazard penalty gave the hosts a lead just before the half time, only for Raheem Sterling’s sublime effort to restore parity. The 1-1 draw has now set-up an evenly poised second-leg, with some more controversy expected
