DONE DEAL – Chelsea confirm Radamel Falcao transfer, striker joins the club on a season-long loan
Chelsea have confirmed the capture of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan from AS Monaco. This has now confirmed Falcao’s stay in the Premier League following his loan spell with Manchester United last season.
Chelsea confirmed the news of Falcao’s signing by posting a Welcome to Chelsea message on their official twitter account.
Falcao was determined to stay in the Premier League and Jose Mourinho has answered his plea by signing the 29-year old striker going against all the pundits and experts.
Following his move to Chelsea, Falcao said: ‘I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe.’
Many have written off Falcao due to his disappointing performances, first with Man United then with his national squad Colombia during the Copa America 2015.
Chelsea needed a back-up striker to Diego Costa as the Spaniard has failed to cope up with the extensive number of games at Stamford Bridge. Add to that, Didier Drogba has said his good-bye to the club and Loic Remy is expected to leave as well.
Chelsea’s participation on all fronts will demand a rigorous squad for Mourinho and by signing Falcao they have certainly got one of the world’s best on paper but how well will he perform it is yet to be seen.
For now, it is time for Chelsea fans to get excited and welcome Radamel Falcao at Stamford Briidge.
