Dortmund’s star defender Mats Hummels is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park and Manchester United is expected to be his preferred destination if the latest reports are to be believed.
Mats Hummels has been Louis van Gaal’s top transfer target in defence since last summer. The transfer did not happen last summer with Hummels committing to stay at Dortmund. However with Dortmund’s chances to qualify for Champions League are looking bleak, he is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park this season.
The 26 year old centre half has grown immensely and is one of the world’s best centre backs in the world at present. His ability to lead the defence like Vidic used to do is a great aspect that every Red Devils’ fan will cherish if the transfer happens this summer.
With Dortmund still trailing 8 points from Champions League qualification spot with 11 games to go, the centre back is looking for a future else where. Marco Reus was also expected to leave but with the winger signing a contract extension, Mats Hummels is expected to leave this summer. The defender will cost significantly for Red Devils in the region of £40m but given his talent United might just go ahead with the deal to bring him to Old Trafford.
