Amidst the speculations of who would be the next boss at Old Trafford, there has arrived a new twist in this tale of the managers’ saga. Louis van Gaal of Manchester United was reported to be sack in the coming days because of his failed philosophy and unsuccessful spell at the club. His exit became a serious issue after rivals Chelsea sacked their gaffer, Jose Mourinho.
Ever since Jose stepped down as the manager at Stamford Bridge, all eyes were on the Portuguese to become the next boss at Manchester United. The news of Jose joining the Red Devils spread like wild fire. It was believed that Ed Woodward, Manchester United’s transfer agent had arranged a meeting at London. Everyone assumed the agenda of the meeting to be the discussion of LvG’s future. However, it wasn’t so.
Manchester Evening News have just reported that Ed’s London meet wasn’t for the decision of LvG’s sacking. t is understood Woodward attended a commercial-related discussion at United’s Mayfair office, rather than decide the beleaguered Van Gaal’s fate. Van Gaal’s sacking became imminent after the squad failed to qualify in the round of 16 of the Champions League and dropped down to the Europa League.
Things became miserable when Manchester United lost to Bournemouth and Norwich City. It looks that LvG’s exit from Old Trafford can be announced anytime, however it is believed several United players still enjoy working under Van Gaal, despite unrest among some sections, and he has not explicitly lost the dressing room like David Moyes did.
Phil Jones claimed that the mood under LvG’s reign hasn’t been as worse as it was under the Moyes era. “I wouldn’t say it’s the lowest moment,” Jones said at the weekend. “I think it became pretty glum under David Moyes.”
“The manager is doing all he can and is doing a terrific job.
“It’s not even questionable in the dressing room. The lads are absolutely fully focused on performing well for the manager, the fans, ourselves – week in, week out.
The players in there aren’t hiding behind anyone.”
