Eden Hazard has had a nightmare since arriving at Real Madrid. The Los Blancos signed him in the summer of 2019 for a club record fee of €115 Million. The idea was that he would establish himself as the team’s face, something they were looking for at the moment, since Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus the previous year.

It was regarded as a brilliant move on Real Madrid’s behalf at the time. During his seven years at Chelsea, Eden Hazard had established himself as a Premier League legend and demonstrated his quality. However, things went downhill since the Belgian moved to Real Madrid. Hazard has suffered one injury after another, and is already wanted by club hierarchy to leave.

Eden Hazard dismisses summer exit reports

Eden Hazard has announced that he will stay at Real Madrid till the end of his contract and will not be leaving this summer. Not only the winger became Los Blancos’ club record signing joining from Chelsea, he also penned a lucrative five-year deal worth €490,00 per week.

However, Hazard has been unable to reproduce the sparkling performances that earned him such adoration at Stamford Bridge and a record move to Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior, on the other hand, rose to become one of the best wingers in the world. As a result, Hazard is presently regarded as one of Carlo Ancelotti’s back-up wingers.

Furthermore, Eden Hazard was an unused substitute as Los Blancos won their first Copa del Rey in nearly a decade, but he confirmed after the game that he hopes to stay at the club until the end of his contract. He told Cadena SER:

“It’s been a difficult year, but with a very big team. I have a good relationship with the club and with the players too. I want to play, but I know it’s very difficult. I have to work and hope I can play more. Honestly, I’m planning to stay at Real Madrid next season. I expect to stay as I want to celebrate the last year of contract I have left.”

Eden Hazard has only scored four league goals in two seasons since joining Real Madrid, and he has been used sparingly since Ancelotti returned to the club in 2021. This season, the former Premier League Player of the Season has played a total of 331 minutes for his team across all competitions.

However, the apex of Hazard’s time at Madrid came in September, when he made his only league start of the season against Mallorca. Hazard, who had only one shot despite being deployed as a centre forward, was substituted by Luka Modric before the hour mark, with the game tied at 1-1.

Real Madrid eventually won 4-1, but Hazard would have to wait until April to make another league appearance for the club. It is difficult to see Hazard establishing himself as a starter for Real Madrid in the future. And, given the number of injuries he has had to deal with, he simply does not appear to be capable of reaching his peak form ever again.

As a result, it remains to be seen what Hazard’s long-term prospects are. While he was even tipped to return to Stamford Bridge amidst the Blues’ new owner Todd Boehly’s €680 million spending spree, but for the time being, it appears that he intends to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and ‘celebrate’ the perks of his £ his contract expire.
