Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe has hailed new acquisition Gabriel Jesus as a ‘ridiculous’ trainer who has outclassed his every other teammate. Smith Rowe further suggested that Jesus is the best man to arrive this summer at the club among their five signings.
Arsenal have welcomed Porto’s Fabio Vieira, Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko, MLS side New England’s Matt Turner and Sau Paulo’s Marquinhos alongside Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian is now expected to spearhead Arsenal’s attack after six goal-laden years at City. Smith Rowe has further lavished praise on Jesus who scored a whopping 7 goals in Arsenal’s 4 preseason friendlies.
Smith Rowe labels Jesus as ‘Ridiculous’ in Arsenal training
Jesus decided to leave City in search of regular minutes, after the club signed Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. The Brazilian was snapped up by Arsenal for a fee of £45 million on a five-year contract. Jesus is a proven asset of the Premier League who has amassed 90 goal contributions [58 goals, 32 assists] in 159 appearances.
A four-time Premier League winner with City, Jesus will bring the much-needed experience and robustness to a young Arsenal team. Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s VibeWithFive with Joel Albeya, Emile Smith Rowe was asked about the one player from the club’s preseason who has impressed him the most. The academy player replied, “The players that have come back [from loans], I already know how good they are. So it’s not a surprise to see how good they are and how well they are doing.”
Emile Smith Rowe further added, “But from the new players, I think Gabriel Jesus… I didn’t actually realise how sharp he was. Obviously playing against him it’s different, you see him watching Man City before. But when you actually see him in training.. I’ve been telling my friends, they’re always asking, and I’m like ‘he’s ridiculous’.”
Jesus will be now be linking with Smith Rowe who enjoyed one of his best spells at the club last season. Emile Smith Rowe scored 10 goals and assisted 2 in 33 Premier League games which earned him a call-up to England national team by Gareth Southgate.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping his attackers will fire all cylinders going in the new season as they did in the preseason. He has got his brand new striker in Gabriel Jesus after Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang was released back in January. The Gunners will aim at the Champions League qualification with new reinforcements in the team.
