English Premier League: Summer Transfer XI

The Premier League has reached yet another halt this week as the international break gives the players some much-needed respite from the frenzy of the domestic campaign. There were a number of top class performances from individuals all over the league and some of them have helped their team to a good start early this season.

The summer transfer window saw an influx of talent into the Premier League but the conditions in the league has seen some of them take the time to adjust and have an effect on their team. 11 games into the season, there have not been too many summer signings that have shown quality and consistency so far.

However, here are 11 players making the Premier League new signings XI after 11 games:

Maarten Stekelenburg (Everton):

Filling the role of Tim Howard who was there at the Goodison for 10 years, the Netherlands international has been in sublime form for the Toffees at the back this season and edges Middlesbrough’s Victor Valdes into this XI.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea):

After a poor start to the season, the Italian has been superb in a wing-back role for Conte’s side this season and has helped them to 5 consecutive clean sheets going into the international break.

Joel Matip (Liverpool):

The free-transfer for Liverpool is soon turning out to be the best buy of the summer with his tidy performances at the back for the Reds. He has now helped Liverpool stitch a 12-game unbeaten run going into the international break.

Eric Bailly (Manchester United):

The fact that the United fans were cringing after the injury to the summer buy shows how far Bailly has come from a shaky start to the season. He makes this XI as a part of the 3-mamn defense at the back.

Shkodran Mustafi (Arsenal):

The best piece of business from Wenger this summer was the German defender who has already formed a solid partnership at the back with Laurent Koscielny. He completes our defense of this side.

Daryl Janmaat (Watford):

One of the many players to leave the Magpies after their relegation, Janmaat, has been effective for the Hornets and has helped them to a strong start this season.

N Golo Kante (Chelsea):

The powerhouse in the midfield for Chelsea, Kante, has continued his form from the previous season and has helped Chelsea to 5 consecutive victories going into the international break.

Joe Allen (Stoke City):

The Welsh international has been deployed further forward by Mark Hughes at Stoke and he has already scored 4 top flight goals helping Stoke City out of the drop zone after a mediocre start.

Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City):

A regular at the Etihad after coming back from injury, Gundogan, won the player of the month award for October and has been one of the most effective summer signings this season.

Sadio Mane (Liverpool):

Fast becoming an impact player for the Reds, Mane, has been superb for Klopp’s side and has helped them to the top of the table with some impressive performances this season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United):

Though found a slump of form recently, Zlatan was back among the scorers in the last league victory over Swansea and now has 6 goals this season, more than any other summer signings this summer.
