The Barclays Premier League this week produced some mind numbing games that went till the very end and produced some brilliant results for the less fancied teams. The league is fast becoming an unpredictable one as many big clubs have fallen prey to the small ones.

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United all drop points on the night as Leicester City, Bournemouth and Watford continued their winning ways this week. There were some brilliant performances that kept the fans at the edge of their seats.

Here is the Team of the week for matchday 17:

Goalkeeper:

Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace):

Made a string of fine saves to keep Stoke City at bay and, in turn, got all three points from the match for his persistence.

Defense:

Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea):

Got himself a goal and an assist in the first match after Mourinho’s sack. The left back looked far better than what he was in the last few games as he produced a brilliant performance.

Sebastien Bassong (Norwich City):

His strength and ariel ability was too good for the United front line as the center back gave his opponents no space to work with and deservedly took all three points from the game.

Craig Cathcart (Watford):

At the heart of a defense that kept a clean sheet against Liverpool, Cathcart produced a solid performance at the back as he was in total command against a lackluster Liverpool attack.

Charlie Daniels (AFC Bournemouth):

Kept a cool head to slot home the penalty that gave the Cherries their third consecutive victory in the league. The full-back was superb all night long at both ends of the field.

Mid-field:

Alexander Tettey (Norwich City):

Scored the winner against Manchester United and was full of energy on the night as he produced an all-round performance in the historic 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

Oscar (Chelsea):

Was a constant threat in front of the Sunderland defense as he was full of ideas with the ball at his feet. Was never afraid to test the keeper and also got a goal to his name in the 3-1 victory at the Bridge.

Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City):

Two goals against Everton saw his tally reach 13 goals for the season. Mahrez was a headache for the Everton defense all night as his innumerable runs in behind the defense disrupted the Everton back four.

Mesut Ozil (Arsenal):

Having one of the best season’s in his career, Mesut Ozil was at it again against Manchester City as he provided the assists for both the goals that saw the Gunners take all three points. He was simply unplayable on the night.

Attack:

Cameron Jerome (Norwich City):

Opened the scoring for Norwich with a superb run into the box and was also a huge factor in Norwich’s 2-1 victory against Manchester United.

Odion Ighalo (Watford):

A brace against Liverpool that saw his team move within a point of the Champions League spots will give great pleasure to the Watford forward who is having a dream Premier League season.
