Mesut Ozil (Arsenal): Arsenal’s record 42 million signing had a weekend he’d certainly want to forget. Arsenal were annihilated by a rampant Liverpool side in the opening 20 minutes and Mesut Ozil was at the heart of everything. Dwelling on the ball for too long inviting pressure, the German lost the ball which eventually resulted in Raheem Sterling’s first goal. In the 19th minute, a casual pass from the 42 million man was cleverly picked off by Phillipe Coutinho which resulted in Liverpool’s fourth within 20 minutes. Certainly a weekend to forget for the German no. 11.

Wes Brown (Sunderland): The former Manchester United centre half lasted only three minutes of action this weekend. A horrendous challenge on Shane Long who was clean through on goal saw the 34 year old Brown sent off in the 3rd minute of the game. Covering for Phil Bardsley lapse in concentration Brown jumped into a sliding tackle that only resulted in his team playing the rest of the game with 10 men.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (Newcastle United): Coming off the bench at 2-0, the least that could’ve been asked from the French defender was not to concede a third. However, an absolutely unwanted challenge on Samuel Eto’o within the box gifted Hazard a chance to grab his third. Lucky not to receive a red card for the challenge, he didn’t prove to be any better than Debuchy in dealing with Hazard down Chelsea’s left wing.

Craig Bellamy (Cardiff City): As if the loss to Welsh rivals Swansea wasn’t enough, Cardiff City’s dismal performance at the Liberty also saw them lose out on the veteran winger Craig Bellamy for the next 3 games for an alleged punch attempt on Jonathan De Guzman in the 63rd minute of the derby.

Steven Naismith (Everton): The former Rangers’ winger proved to be completely ineffective at White Hart Lane on Sunday in the Champions League six-pointer between Spurs and Everton. If his lack of involvement and application wasn’t enough, it was his unnecessary foul that gave away the free-kick which led to the only goal of the game. Certainly an evening to forget.
