Erling Haaland reached another goalscoring milestone for Manchester City against Fulham, as the striker continues to smash records in England. It was only last week when he broke Mohamed Salah’s record of most goals in a 38-game season, scoring his 33rd goal of this Premier League season in the 4-1 demolition of Arsenal.
The Norwegian was inevitably again on the scoresheet against Fulham, as City scrapped past the feisty Cottagers 2-1. Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez scored for the reigning English champions, as the former brought up his 50th goal of the season in just 44 goals. However, it was more than a half century of goals for Haaland, who did it on a remarkable day.

Erling Haaland gets emotional after scoring on the death anniversary of Raiola
On what felt like another momentous day, Erling Haaland led the celebrations in front of the away fans at the Craven Cottage. Manchester City returned to the top of the standings as Haaland scored his 50th goal in all competitions, and they are closing in on a sixth title in six years.
Guardiola, on the other hand, will not get many tougher games in his pursuit of the treble, as Fulham handed City a lot tougher game than Arsenal’s easy surrender at the Etihad last Wednesday. City had to fight, brawl, and battle for every ball at Craven Cottage, highlighting how difficult it is to win the title. This was their eighth straight Premier League victory, and even Guardiola said it was their most difficult.
However, preventing Haaland from getting on the scoresheet was a Herculean task Marco Silva’s men couldn’t accomplish. The former Dortmund star scored from the penalty spot just three minutes into the game and slot home the opener for the visitors. It was Haaland’s 50th goal of the season for his new side, and the youngster celebrated it by pointing towards the sky.

The 22-year-old was soon reduced to tears as he brought up his half century of goals for City on the one year death anniversary of his former agent Mino Raiola. The Italian was instrumental in the Norway international bagging lucrative contracts at both Dortmund as well as City, despite he passed away before his client’s move was announced to the English champions.
Erling Haaland’s spectacular goalscoring efforts earn all of the attention, but Julian Alvarez’s miraculous goal was decisive, and his outstanding all-around performance added another aspect to City. They won despite the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, who was not risked due to a minor injury, and Bernardo Silva, who has been one of their greatest performers this season.
This one puts him ahead of Clive Allen, who scored 49 goals in all competitions for Tottenham in the 1986/87 season. He has already surpassed the Premier League record for a 38-game season, with only Dixie Dean’s record of 63 goals in 41 games in 1927/28 standing in his way.
