Erling Haaland recently made a hilarious tweet on social media that seemed to expose the secret to his extraordinary goal-scoring prowess for Manchester City. The 22-year-old is having an incredibly productive season, tallying an astounding 45 goals across all competitions since joining the Premier League champions last summer from Borussia Dortmund.

He grabbed a goal in City’s latest win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals first leg at the Etihad as well as two breathtaking goals in his last Premier League game. With 30 goals in England’s top flight and another 11 goals in the Champions League, Erling Haaland is the top scorer in both competitions. He might have just revealed the reason behind his stellar form.

Erling Haaland jokes about ‘magic potion’ as reason behind goals galore

With already a breakout season under his belt on his maiden year in England, Erling Haaland still wants more. There are still over 10 games left in the season for the Norway international, who looks set to easily hit a half-century of goals this season for Pep Guardiola’s side. However, as even the Man City fans might be wondering, what might be the reason behind Erling Haaland’s stunning form?

It looks like milk, at least as per the striker himself. The Norwegian sensation uploaded a series of pictures of himself holding what looks to be a bottle of milk. The caption for his post read: “Me and my magic potion.”

As the cat is out of the bag, Erling Haaland is being powered this season by milk, as he’s still on track to score more goals than any player has ever managed in a single season in the history of the Premier League. With 30 league goals already to his name, Haaland is just four goals away from tying Andy Cole and Alan Shearer, who both scored 34 goals in the 93/94 and 94/95 seasons respectively.

Haaland’s exploits have even earned him a comparison to two of the legendary players he might even be looking at for inspiration, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, from his manager Pep Guardiola. The Catalan had said this following Man City’s victory at St. Mary’s:

“In terms of the thesis of scoring goals. He’s quite similar in terms of Cristiano but Messi is the more complete player. Messi can play wherever while Cristano and Erling are machines. Erling knows those two guys dominated over two decades not just one or two seasons, winning titles and doing everything.

“Football is a better place for Cristiano and Messi for what they have done for our business, the traction of these two guys competing at the big clubs. Erling is arriving in the toughest league in the world. I can talk as I’ve been in other leagues and doing what he has done is remarkable.

“Erling is here for these types of games, it was a little bit hard but he has the ability from an incredible assist from Kevin [De Bruyne] to break the game.”

Haaland will be now gearing up to fire City’s title challenge back on course after league leaders Arsenal drew 2-2 at Liverpool, dropping crucial points and paving a way for the defending champions to get back into the race. City face Leicester City on Saturday, where a win would mean Guardiola’s men go within three points of the Gunners. Also, an all-important second leg against Bayern then awaits City which will see Haaland return to Germany to ensure his team qualifies through to the semis.
