Real Madrid are reportedly interested to bring in former manager Jose Mourinho back to the club next summer, according to a report from The Sun.
Madrid president Florentino Perez still believes the Portuguese as one of the best manager’s in the world, and is sees him as a replacement for the under fire Italian boss Rafa Benitez.
However, another Spanish side Valencia are also interested to land Mourinho at the end of the season, but Real will certainly be favourites if Mourinho decides to return to La Liga.
The 52-year-old Chelsea manager left Madrid in 2013 after a trophy-less campaign following severe criticism and his three years with the La Liga giants saw him eventually fall out with a number of senior members in the dressing room, Ikar Casillas being the most affected. After that he returned to Stamford Bridge and guided Chelsea to the 2014 Premier League title but right now his future at Stamford Bridge remains not in a good spot as the Blues have won just four of their opening 15 league matches this season.
Despite the bitter experience, his relationship with Club president Florentino Perez has remained strong enough, and the president had previously insisted that he never ever wanted to sack the Portuguese tactician.
“If Florentino could have Jose back without any trouble, he’d do it tomorrow, we are not at that stage yet. But it is true that they are in regular contact and their relationship goes way beyond the professional. They are friends.” a close source to the La Liga giants revealed.
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon earlier also claimed Jose Mourinho would be happily welcome back as manager of Real Madrid. In an interview Calderon revealed, current Real Madrid president Florentino Perez actually wanted to appoint Mourinho after sacking Carlo Ancelotti for the 2015-16 campaign, but the Portuguese refused to reunite with the Los Blancos. He also suggested, both Joachim Low and Jurgen Klopp were also looked as preferred prospects ahead of fourth choice Rafa Benitez.
However, Calderon admitted many of the club hierarchy didn’t really like Mourinho as manager of Real Madrid because of his rude techy behaviour in the dugout and with the media persons.
