Manchester City maintains their 100% win record in the new season of the Premier League as they pick up a hard fought win against Everton at Goodison Park. It was an even battle between the two sides as Aleksandar Kolarov and Samir Nasir highlighted the difference by scoring two crucial goals. Left-back Kolarov scored the opening goal of the match in the 66th minute as second half substitute Samir Nasri netted the insurance late un the game. 

Everton looked hungry for a win from the very beginning of the game as they fought evenly with giants Manchester City. Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley and the other attackers looked bright upfront as they imposed constant threat over the away team’s defense.

Manchester City on the other hand fielded an unchanged XI from the last week which had thrashed defending champions Chelsea 3-0 at home. Cityzens attacked with great intensity in the first as Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero came close to score. Sterling recieved a cold reception from the Merseyside crowd as he was booed whenever he got the ball on the left flank.

The teams went into the lemon break with a 0-0 scoreline as both the sides came close to score goals in the first half. An attacking brand of football was exhibited.

 

The second half began on similar intensity with City enjoying marginal dominance. David Silva could have notched up his second goal of the season as he came very close to open the account for Manchester City. The Spaniard attempted a shot from very close range which hit the bar and came back.

Aleksandar Kolarov finally scored the all important first goal. Raheem Sterling dribbled past two defenders inside the penalty box and forwarded a good pass towards a forthcoming Kolarov. The defender took a shot at goal from a difficult angle which beat Tim Howard and went in.

Everton too came close to eqaualise at the ending moments but thanks to captain Vincent Kompany a goal line save rescured City. Samir Nasri scored a late winner after the Frenchman tracked down Yaya Toure’s clever pass.

City moves up to the top of the table with 9 points from the first 3 matches.
