Everton came calling for Andre Gomes after an impressive loan season at the Merseyside club.
The Portugal midfielder has signed a five-year deal at Goodison Park, for whom he made 29 appearances last season playing on a one year loan deal.
“I’m really happy to sign the contract withEverton, it wasn’t hard to decide, it was an easy decision and I’m very happy to have made it,” Gomes told Everton’s website
“I know the club made a massive effort to sign me and I’m very happy and thankful to them. I said during the year that I felt part of a family and that is the most important thing to me.
“Last year was a really good experience for me. I just wanted to feel part of something special and I found it here. It was good for me in that moment and right now, after signing for Everton, it’s even better.”
The Barca man who proved to be a flop at the Catalan club played for the Premier League side Everton last season and regained his form. He was at the heart of the Everton midfield and impressed both attacking and defending.
F.C Barcelona released an official statement on their site “FC Barcelona and Everton F.C. have come to an agreement for the transfer of the Portuguese footballer André Gomes. The amount agreed to for the transfer is €25m plus add-ons.
FC Barcelona would like to publicly thank André Gomes for his dedication and commitment, and wishes him the best of luck and success in the future.”
Andre Gomes had his breakthrough at Valencia in 2016 which earned him a €38 million transfer to F.C Barcelona . He failed to keep the same form at F.C Barcelona where he stayed for two seasons and having been given sufficient playing time he couldn’t show the same performance he did with Valencia C.F. He won 4 trophies with Barca, winning the La Liga once, two Copa del Rey titles, and one Spanish Super Cup.
He showed stellar performances with Everton on his debut season in the premier league. All the big clubs across Europe were rumoured for wanting him, but he signed with the Merseyside club.
