EXCLUSIVE: Jordon Ibe is the reason behind delay in Sterling’s new deal
Jordon Ibe has taken to the Premier League by storm with two stellar performances in two big games for Liverpool in last week. Ibe started both crunch games for Liverpool against local rivals Everton and against their Top 4 competitor Tottenham.
It is being believed that Ibe’s strong performances have caused the doubts in Brendan Rodgers’ mind whether to offer Raheem Sterling the new deal or not. It is no secret how Sterling’s agents are bargaining with Liverpool over the possible new £125,000-a-week contract. Rodgers, earlier in the week released a statement saying: “Liverpool will not be held to ransom over Sterling’s new contract”.
According to the sources Sterling has been offered an incredible new deal worth £90,000-£100,000 a week offer. Despite this, Sterling has not been agreeing to the new Liverpool contract. Seeing this act, Rodgers has seen Ibe as the perfect replacement for Sterling in the first team.
Over the last two games, Ibe has been Liverpool’s best player with 91% pass completion. Ibe has been attacking the opponents and has been forcing Liverpool’s attack with 6 key passes. Ibe can dribble and has an eye for goal with 4 shots on target during his game against Everton and Tottenham.
Ibe has just started in the premier league, his Premier League stats might not back him against Raheem Sterling but Ibe has all the makings of being a better player than Raheem Sterling. Ibe enjoyed a successful loan spell with Derby scoring 5 goals and 1 assist in 13 matches. His impressive display with Derby earned him a place in Liverpool’s playing XI. Jordon Ibe looks like a more direct, much stronger and more determined version of Raheem Sterling.
Ibe, 19 has all the capabilities of replacing Raheem Sterling in the Liverpool XI. Ibe’s rise to the first team has allowed Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool to take their time and not be forced in to handing Sterling a contract of his choice.
Jordon Ibe has turned out to be the ace, Rodgers will play very carefully. Certain Real Madrid will have a keen eye on the developments at Anfield and if Sterling does decide to move away from Liverpool, Real Madrid will do any and everything to snap him away and bring him to Bernabeu.
