Arsene Wenger’s side qualified for the FA Cup fifth round as they defeated Brighton in a tough competition by 3-2 on Sunday, other EPL sides Aston Villa and West Ham also won their respective fixture and qualified for the last 16 of the competition.
The fourth round of FA CUP brought some shocking results as the four Premier League team were eliminated from the competition. The top 2 leaders of EPL, Manchester City and Chelsea were eliminated from FA Cup on Saturday after they were left with embarrassment as both the English giants were defeated in front of home fans and are out of the competition. Manchester City was left with humiliation as League one side Middlesbrough defeated them 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile Jose Mourinho’s side lost their 2 goals lead to a sixth spot holders of League One, Bradford who looked troubled in the opening minutes of the game came out to be the comeback kings as they defeated the Blues on their home turf by 4-2.
It was a joyous Sunday for all the Arsenal fans as Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and Rosicky registered their names by scoring one goal each. Walcott opened the score line in less than 90 seconds of the game; the England International struck a beautiful shot from 12 yards into the net after he was played a wonderful ball by Chambers. Mesut Ozil also made a comeback after serving a long time from injury as he put the Gunners in 2 goal lead, the German international scored in the 24th minute, the finish was excellent and neat making it the second goal of the German in the current season. Brighton tried to comeback in the game but it was too late and the 54th minute sublime volley of Czech international Rosicky was the final nail in the coffin as Brighton’s keeper Stockdale could not stop the shot from getting into the goal.
Aston Villa won their respective fixture after defeating League One leaders Bournemout by 2-1.Thanks to the 2 second half goals of Spanish winger Carles Gil in 53rd and Andreas Weimann who scored the second goal for Villa with less than 19 minutes in the game. Bournemouth’s try to comeback in the game was quite late as Callum Wilson scored a goal in the 90th minute for the Championship club.
West Ham United defeated Bristol City on Sunday after Diafro Sakho emerged as a hero; he scored the only goal of the match in the 81st minute of the game helping the EPL club to march in the fifth round by defeating the third tier team by 1-0.
Swansea were also eliminated in the fourth round of FA Cup by Blackburn Rovers after the second tier team defeated them by 3-1, Liverpool and Manchester United were held at a goal less draw and are taken for a replay by Bolton and League Two side Cambridge. Crystal Palace defeated Southampton 3-2 after coming from behind two times, Leicester City played impressively on Saturday after they came back from behind 1-0 against Tottenham Spurs in the last seven minutes to score twice making the full time score 2-1 and qualify for the last 16.
