Defending champions Arsenal will play against Sunderland in the Third Round of the FA Cup, the team they defeated 3-1 in the Premier league on Saturday as the Gunners looking to become only the third team in the history of the competition to win the trophy for three years in succession.
The tie was among all the five Premier League encounters drawn on Monday evening. The other fixtures include Watford vs Newcastle, Tottenham vs Leicester, Southampton vs Crystal Palace and Norwich vs Manchester City.
Salford City, co-owned by members of Manchester United’s class of 92 and the lowest ranked team in the draw will host Championship side Derby County if they manage to come through their second round replay with Hartlepool.
Eastleigh, the only non-league team assured Third Round berth, are also at home to Bolton, who currently sit bottom of the Championship.
The other two non-league clubs in the draw were Whitehawk, who if win their replay with Dagenham have a tough fixture away against Everton and Grimsby, who will be against Cardiff if they win over Shrewsbury in the Second Round.
Among the favourites to win the FA Cup this season are Manchester United, who will welcome 2013 semifinalists Sheffield United. Liverpool have an away tie against Exeter while troubled Chelsea will be at home against either Leyton Orient or Scunthorpe.
The ties are to be played between January 8 and 11.
