Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Jorge Mendes, super-agent of Cristiano Ronaldo will once again try and broker a deal with Chelsea for his client.

United have missed out on the Champions League for next season and add to it their poor performance in the transfer market. This has left the Portuguese forward frustrated and wanting to leave for Champions League football.

Ronaldo has so far been unsuccessful in finding a new club after deciding to leave Manchester United. Chelsea pulled out from their initial talks of signing Ronaldo after manager Thomas Tuchel rejected the proposal.

However, Chelsea’s urge to land Cristiano Ronaldo could be reignited after club striker Timo Werner is reported to be on the move.

Romano insists Chelsea will make a U-turn on Cristiano Ronaldo

Jorge Mendes has been making trips all over Europe to find a new club for Ronaldo. The agent has so far held meetings with Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid, only to face rejection.

As a result, there is speculation that the Portugal captain might just end up staying at Old Trafford, and face the reality of competing in the Europa League.

But Fabrizio Romano says Mendes has different plans and will work until the end to secure a move out of United for Cristiano. While speaking on the Que Golazo podcast Romano said-

“We know they have been offered a chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s something that Jorge Mendes discussed with Chelsea, but Thomas Tuchel said no 10-15 days ago. He didn’t want to proceed on this opportunity, so I’m sure that Mendes will insist again with Chelsea, Bayern (Munich) and Atletico Madrid until the end of the market but at the moment, it is still like this.”

The Italian journalist insists Mendes will reattempt to negotiate with all of the earlier interested parties in Chelsea, Bayern and Atletico to facilitate Ronaldo’s signing.

While Bayern have bluntly ruled out the possibility of signing Ronaldo despite losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, Atletico too abstained themselves from indulging in serious negotiations.

Chelsea could be the only realistic suitors, if they plan to replace Ronaldo with Timo Werner if the German decides to depart for regular minutes.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United’s base in order to hold talks with Erik ten Hag over his future as reported by David Ornstein.
