Federation Cup final in this season will be held in Srinagar. President of Jammu & Kashmir Football Association, Jamir Ahmed who is now in Thiruvananthapuram to watch Saff Football championship has revealed that following repeated requests to the All India Football Federation top brass for the last couple of years, the AIFF top brass has agreed to allot Federation Cup final in Srinagar. The country’s most prestigious knock-out football championship which was topped last season due to AIFF’s financial crisis has again been back in the football calendar after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) forced the AIFF bosses to resume the tournament.

And according to AIFF decision, Federation Cup will be staged on the home-and-away basis where the top eight teams from the I-League will be vying for the title. The tournament has been scheduled to be held in between May and June in 2016.

Jamir added that with the emergence of Lonestar FC from Kashmir, there has been a huge response from the people. The stadium where I-League second division matches are taking place is getting packed in Lonestar’s every match. Jamir informed they are trying to prepare Bakshi stadium for the Federation Cup final where the grass is artificial.
