This Sunday, Manchester United pay a visit to Goodison Park expecting a hostile game as ever. Man United vs Everton has always been a tensed affair ever since Wayne Rooney’s controversial transfer from the Mersyside club to Old Trafford.

This time though, Everton fans will have a new target in sight and that man is Marouane Felaini.  Louis Van Gaal has asked Fellaini to keep his emotions in check when he visits Goodison Park this Sunday to play against his former team.

This will be Fellaini’s first trip to Goodison as a United player since his £27.5 million move to Old Trafford. Van Gaal knows how big this game will be for the lanky Belgian and that is exactly why he went and had a personal chat with Fellaini asking him to deal with the reception he gets by the Everton fans.

Speaking with MUTV, Van Gaal explained how he understands the value of a player returning to his former ground, expecting to do better and ends up putting in just a little extra effort than needed which tends to go against the player.

Van Gaal said: “I have spoken with Fellaini because I know this, but Fellaini is always very dry with his answers.

“He said ‘it’s just a game’ but I said ‘yes, but it’s a special game for you’.

“I hope the Everton fans shall receive him like the Chelsea fans received Juan Mata because I like that very much.”

Fellaini must keep a lid on his emotions as he is bound to get a hostile reception by the Mersyside fans. The Belgian should let his on-field performance do the talking considering how well he has been playing in recent weeks.
