Las Palmas president has revealed Liverpool’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain striker Jese Rodriguez.
The Reds are currently in the market to bolster their squad as they will be short on attacking options in January. Sadio Mane, who has been performed well after arriving at the Anfield this term, is set to leave for African Cup of Nations duty after Liverpool’s Premier League game with Sunderland on January 2. On the other hand, Danny Ings has been ruled out of the entire season due to injury while Daniel Sturridge is still not finding a place in the starting eleven. As a result, Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bolster his attacking options and Las Palmas president Angel Ramirez revealed that the Reds are keen to sign the former Real Madrid star.
Jese, who signed for the French champions this summer, has struggled to get regular first-time action and has been linked with a move away from the Parc de Princes. The 23-year-old has made nine Ligue 1 appearances for the French outfit, with only one of those a start.
Jese Rodriguez is a great footballer. He wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high,’ he told Las Provincia.
Ramirez also claimed that Italian giants AC Milan and AS Roma are also keen to secure the services of the attacker.
“Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns. We cannot afford that salary.
“With respect to other clubs, we are at a disadvantage and hence we have to wait. But we don’t want to create false expectations,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Merseyside outfit is also linked with Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes as they are desperate to strengthen their attacking options.
