Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Emmanuel Adebayor is set to undergo a medical at Aston villa on Wednesday according to Talksport.
The striker is currently out of favour at Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side and spent the last season mostly on the sidelines due to personal issues and fallout with the manager.
The striker did very well for Spurs when current Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood was in charge of the White Hart Lane side as an interim manager.
Aston Villa lost their main striker Christian Benteke’s services this summer as he moved to Liverpool and looking to replace the Belgian with the Togo international.
The 31-year-old discussed personal terms yesterday and it is believed that the Midlands club have agreed to his massive £100,000-a-week wage demands.
Aston Villa have already signed Ghana international striker Jordan Ayew from FC Lorient last week and is looking to sharpen their forward line with the addition of former Real Madrid star Emmanuel Adebayor.
Spurs have a crowded forward line with Harry Kane, Roberto Soldado and Adebayor and are looking to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino and Adebayor’s move will make both the parties happy.
The talismatic striker had appeared in 10 games for Spurs last season and scored 2 goals and is looking to have regular gametime at Villa Park.
The striker featured in “PFA Team of the Year” in 2007-08 season and was awarded “BBC African Footballer of the Year” in 2007 and “African Footballer of the Year” in 2008.
He has also the “Goal of the Season” from 2007-08 season in his impressive resume.
Four times “Togo Footballer of the Year”, Adebayor is going to play a key role for Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa squad if the move goes through.
