Arsenal legend Ian Wright claims that Liverpool have avoided Manchester City from creating a monopoly on the Premier League title. The former striker feels the English top flight has lost his competitiveness in recent years with Manchester City’s dominance. Pep Guardiola has assembled a squad at City like no other and reaped its rewards as well.
On the other hand, Wright believes the rivalry, the competition has been killed and the Premier League is one step away from being “s**t”, if it was not for Klopp’s Liverpool. City have been crowned the league champions on four times in the last five years, with only the Reds winning on one occasion. This season as well, City are already being touted as strong favourites with the business they have done in the transfer market.

It would be a precession- Ian Wright on Manchester City’s dominance
Ian Wright launched a staunching attack on the way the title rivalry has turned out since Guardiola has arrived in England. He feels no one outside Liverpool have presented the defending champions a stern challenge to the title with the Reds themselves finishing second twice by just a point.
City even went on to lift the Premier League trophy in the 2017/18 season by amassing 100 points, an all-time Premier League record. Speaking to Off the Ball, the one-time Premier League champion with Arsenal said: “If it wasn’t for Liverpool this f*****g league would be s**t. Simply because [Manchester City] beat them on two occasions by one point and then they hammered them out of sight. If it wasn’t for Liverpool it would be a precession.

On the other hand, Liverpool have had a turbulent start to their campaign, drawing two of their first two games. They are yet to bag all three points this season and already trail City by five points. Talking about their concerning form, Wright said:
“I think that what’s happened is, teams realize what you have to do to Liverpool. Fulham closed down the midfield. I don’t know what’s happening at the moment, Thiago’s not playing, they’ve got no creativity from there. They go to the wings, they put in the box. Between Palace and Fulham they delt with that no problem.”
He went on: “They’re going to need to find something in respects to their midfield. But they’re going to have to do it quickly because you cannot let City continue doing what they’re doing, because you can’t see where they’re going to lose a game.”
