Stoke City’s German centre-back Robert Huth has joined Leicester City on a permanent move, after spending the second half of the 2014-15 season on loan at City. Huth made his move public by tweeting- “Now the sexy football show rolls into Leicester!!!” In his previous tweet, he thanked his former club with- “STOKE YOU HAVE BEEN SENSATIONAL, thank you for everything.”
His short tenure at Leicester during 2014-15, saw the Foxes embark on a run of seven consecutive wins in their final nine matches, which helped stay in the Premier League. Huth’s move was made permanent at the insistence of Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson, who was visibly impressed with his loan signing led to a string of good results.

While speaking to Leicester Mercury during May this year, Pearson was asked if he would like Huth to stay, he said, “Basically the answer is yes. But I don’t want to get into that sort of when firstly, I have not spoken to his parent club [Stoke City].”
He also went on to add, “Certainly he has done very well for us. I think you can get an answer from that. I am really pleased that we were able to bring him in when we did.”
Robert Huth started his professional career at Chelsea, when he moved to Stamford Bridge from Hertha Berlin in 2001. Although we won two Premier League medals with Chelsea, he could not cement a 1st team place, as Jose Mourinho preferred the centre-back pairing of John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho.
He joined Middlesbrough in 2006 for £6 million and remained there till 2009 when Boro were relegated from the Premier League. A £5 million move to Stoke City followed in August 2009, where he remained the 1st-choice partner for Ryan Shawcross at centre-back. A knee injury suffered in November 2013 kept him out of action for the remainder of the 2013-14 season, and Marc Muniesa was brought in Barcelona, to whom Huth lost his 1st-team place. However, he intends to star his new innings at Leicester well, promising to contribute to the Foxes’ ambition with his sexy football.
Huth was also a part of the German contingent at the 2006 World Cup, which finished 3rd in the tournament. He has won 19 caps for Germany, but he retired from international duty in 2009, at a young age of 25.
