Recent reports suggest that Former Chelsea player and Manager Roberto di Matteo got sacked at Bumdesliga club Schalke 04 after failing to secure Champions League spot this season despite having a wonderful first half of the season.
The manager have managed to win only three games out of the last 14 games of the season and from a Champions League spot, the club flunked to Europa League position. Should Borussia Dortmund win against Vfl Wolfsburg in DFB Pokal Cup next week then Schalke 04 will need to go through play-off for a spot in Europa League.
The coach have manged the impossible 4-3 win over Real Madrid at Bernabeu during Round-of-16 stage in Champions League but lost to the Spanish giants on an overall aggregate of 5-4.
Once a promising side during the first half of the season has become a draw machine dropping valuable points and eventually ended with 2-0 loss to relegation threatened Hamburg SV on Match Day 34.
Following the 2-0 loss at Hamburg on Saturday, club’s sporting executive Heldt announced on German TV he’d “question every position” at the club. “That’s clear. All, who are responsible for the sporting side, be it the coach, the players or the sporting executive. Everything has to be put on the table, and then we’ll make a decision.”
The Italian coach joined Schalke back in October 2014 but have been with the club only for 8 months.
