Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers could be appointed as the next England manager, according to Sky Bet.
Rodgers was sacked by Liverpool in October following a 1-1 draw against rivals Everton at Goodison Park, but the Northern Irishman is now 4/1 to replace Roy Hodgson, after the Euros.
Earlier, Rodgers even admitted he had rejected few offers, since leaving Liverpool, and it does seems the England job is tailor made for him.
There are not many high calibre home-grown managers available, except for Brendan Rodgers and Alan Pardew, and that makes the former Liverpool boss favourite to take over from Roy Hodgson.
Roy Hodgson’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and there is no indication the FA will offer him a contract extension, but Hodgson seems to be very keen on continuing even after the Euros.
A lot will depend on England’s performance in the Euros, but Brendan Rodgers could be a very good appointment, and a move forward for the England national team.
Rodgers must be itching to get back to management, and after the experience at a club like Liverpool, the England job seems to be a perfect opportunity for him to prove his critics wrong.
