Former Premier League star and legendary striker Alan Shearer believes that Everton defender John Stones to should join Premier League this season. Chelsea were keen on signing the youngster but Everton had rejected two consecutive bids.

Jose Mourinho also had revealed that he was not happy with the club’s response and they would stop pursuing their interest over the player.

Recently as a match day pundit, Shearer opined:  ‘First and foremost, if Everton decide to sell him, and I’ve heard it said by Rio Ferdinand that it would be a bad move to go to Chelsea. I think it would be a fantastic move – for two reasons.

‘One, because he’ll be playing under the best manager in the Premier League, and two, he’d be sitting, watching, learning off the best centre half that has been in the Premier League in John Terry and for that reason, I think he’ll improve and get better.

‘If Everton do decide to sell him, I think it’ll be a great move for him.’

John Stones is considered to be one of the best center backs in the country right now. He had an amazing season with the Toffees last summer. Shearer insisted that Stones’ move to Chelsea will be a great leap in his career as he would be able to learn a lot from English legend John Terry.

A few days back Rio Ferdinand had said that Stones should leave Everton for Chelsea as lack of opportunities would ruin his career. After Chelsea defense’s opening day performance yesterday, it is clear the club needs a quality center back who could take John Terry’s place in the team.

It will be interesting to see if Stones actually choses to leave Everton and Chelsea this season.
