Steven Gerrard described Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey Premier League’s best central attacking midfielder.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Aaron Ramsey is the best attacking midfielder in Premier League when played centrally.
The Liverpool legend was well known for being a lethal midfielder in all attacking situations when he played for England and the Anfield outfits.
The 24-year-old Welshman was positioned as a central attacking midfielder and impressed everybody in Arsenal’s magical 3-0 win in the Champions League against Greek side Olympiacos last night which saw them progressed from Group F. Ramsey superbly set up the first of Olivier Giroud’s three goals, albeit from a wide area.
Liverpool great Steven Gerrard hailed Ramsey as the Premier League’s best attacking midfielder while giving his expert comments on BT Sport Football.
“Mentally, I don’t think he’ll be happy himself playing out wide because he hasn’t got the legs,” Gerrard suggested to play Ramsey centrally.
“His qualities are all in the middle and for me when he’s in that form he’s the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League.”
“So you’ve got to play your best players where they want to be and I’m sure he’ll want to be in the middle.”
Aaron Ramsey was quick to respond to the comment as he dedicated a tweet to Gerrard.
Honoured to hear that from a legend like Gerrard https://t.co/3ZGVNgKD15

Earlier former EPL star Craig Bellamy also said his compatriot Aaron Ramsey must start in the central attacking position for Arsenal ahead of Mesut Ozil. He believed, when played deep, the 24-year-old’s natural game seems to be restricted. Bellamy suggested at Monday Night Football. “He has to be in the centre. If you ask him to sit [deep] you restrict a lot of his game. Ozil has played left at certain times,” Bellamy tried to justify his comment. “It’s not just me being biased. I have known Aaron since he was five years of age. I would play him central before I would play Ozil.
Aaron Ramsey at times has indeed proved that he is all set to become a world class talent for Wenger’s side, but injuries have restricted him to do so.
Arsenal eventually finished next to leaders Bayern Munich in Group F after collecting nine points from their 6 matches.
The Gunners also made it 16 consecutive seasons during which they have successfully qualified for the knock out stages of the Champions League. However, Arsenal have never won the elite silverware, while Steven Gerrard won it with Liverpool ten years ago.
